Initial Sketch Ideas

After looking at existing products, I decided to draw a few initial design ideas and see if any of the shapes or features stimulated any further ideas. I found drawing initial sketches useful as it allowed myself to think through the processes and, in reality, would it work and would the components fit in the design. My first idea was to make a contemporary style speaker but then after reflecting on my initial reseach, I decided that there were too many of these similar designes so I wanted to make something a little bit different.
I was struggling with initial ideas for a different design so decided to produce a mood board of ideas I had.

One eyrir which stood out to me was the 1980's, so i decided to reseach common products fromt the 80's and also 2012 to look for links and developments. One major technological advance I found was the leap from cassetts and tapes to smart phones and Ipods. This then triggered an idea of linking the two together in some way. Then I thought what about an MP3 amplifer in the retro style of a casette tape.
